GCC Zoom Chat

The GCC community gathered on 21 August to talk a bit about "tentfaking" (where potentially ill-prepared and poorly trained professionals try to do business overseas in order to share their faith) and hear from two folks who work with Scatter Global.

After recently reading "Scatter: Go Therefore and Take Your Job With You" by Andrew Scott, I really felt this idea of taking your unique gifts and occupation globally into paid positions where our Christian faith is not often shared is totally a missing component of so much of how we are raised in America to separate the sacred and secular. Fortunately, I think the younger generations don’t have such a separation in their minds and many aren’t comfortable with even considering raising support for positions overseas (though there’s nothing wrong with that approach too).

Check out Scatter Global. They believe strongly that the career that God has called us to can often be the best way to make redemptive relationships overseas. So they set out to create a professional service that matches up professionals with paid overseas jobs.

One of my goals in inviting Daniel to chat with us is to see how we can help by providing details about media-related jobs we may know about in our areas of service overseas (i.e. universities in China in need of film teachers or social media managers in the Middle East, etc.) And who knows...maybe one of us will even learn about a paid job opportunity overseas.

Get in touch if you want to watch our hour-long discussion.
