EMDC 2022

EMDC is a global gathering of scripture engagement specialists and cross-cultural workers on mission to share the gospel in especially unreached areas. The EMDC community gathers together experts in various communications and media specialties, as well as other areas, with an in-person conference or ongoing online affinity groups and learning sessions through EMDC.online. If you are interested in communications or media as it applies to cross-cultural outreach, this is THE place to be plugged in to. Learn more at emdc.info.

This upcoming conference will be held in the Netherlands and is expecting 200-300.

The next EMDC conference will be tailored to the Spanish speaking world and held in October 2022.

Thailand will be next up in 19-27 April 2023.

“Coming Attractions" EMDC Film Festival 2022

EMDC is back in-person meeting up in the Netherlands and the film festival previously known as the “Mini Film, Mini Preview” is redubbed at “Coming Attractions”. This will be hosted on the first night of the EMDC conference on Tues 31 May from 19:30 to 21:00.

The goal is to preview short, creative media products from the last few years that focus mainly on the not-yet-reached world. These could include short live or animated films, documentaries, narratives, and movie trailers.  We are MOSTLY looking for:

  • Clips from the last two or three years that have not yet been featured at recent past EMDC events

  • New previews or trailers for movies that are focused on unreached people groups

  • Material that could be appropriately dubbed into neighboring languages

  • Documentaries of people groups inspiring others to highlight minority people groups

  • Films actually done by or with minority peoples

  • Animation or live-action shorts that highlight a biblical story or principle that can then be dubbed into other languages.

Do you have a project that fits any of these criteria? You may submit your whole film to the review committee, but the maximum screen-time limit per entry is 6 minutes. Consequently, we may ask you to re-edit the piece to fit the time-frame or opt to show a trailer instead. A short trailer is best. If you do not have a trailer, and are just showing a clip from the film as an example, please limit that to 3 minutes.

Films do not need to be evangelistic in nature and could focus on anthropology, prayer, biblical parables, social matters, etc. Films produced for a Western audience are primarily not what we are looking for, unless it is your goal to advertise your services and you are producing products in minority languages for others.

Contact Tim to get the submission link and further details.

All entries must be submitted by 15 May 2022.

Media to Movements Content Meetup

Formerly known as the MTMFF2SS (Media to Movements Filmmakers Forum to Serve Strategies), our little group of creatives with a passion for filmmaking and content creation gets together to learn how we can merge our talents with teams working to reach unreached people groups with the gospel using intentional social media strategies.

In this session, Candace Mackie from TWR Motion will share ways she and her team have found most useful in supporting MTM teams with their creative skills. We'll interview a field worker who wants to get an MTM project set up but doesn't have much social media expertise and Keegan will introduce the Campfire Creatives' Discord server where we can better get to know one another and share about our needs.

In partnership with Visual Story Network. See recaps from 2022 Feb, 2021 Nov, Aug, May. Contact Tim to get the meeting details.

Mini-Film Mini-Preview Online Festival 2021

For the past several years, EMDC has been host to a lineup of films created to highlight stories focused on people and places where the Christian faith is not in the majority or crafted with the express purpose of sharing biblical concepts rich in spiritual depth and meaning. Genres usually include documentaries, animations, live-action, anthropological and experimental.

In 2020 the film festival moved online with the cancellation of our in-person conference. This year of 2021 will be more of the same as the EMDC.online platform will become the meeting place. We will also plan to produce a version that will be uploaded after the event to be enjoyed anytime.

Thurs, April 8
7AM Pacific, 10AM Eastern U.S., 3PM GMT

We will plan to meet on Zoom, an online meeting platform. As host, I will introduce each category and the films playing in each category. COVID-19 Global Church Hackathon

FaithTech, Indigitious, Kingdom Code and others bring you a global weeklong hackathon.

We find ourselves at a key moment in history. A global pandemic. Social isolation. Self-quarantine. People who met to worship Jesus together, now unable to do so. Yet we know that the global church is a people, not a series of buildings. As people we will look back on this moment - so let's choose to leave a legacy that outlasts the current crisis. Let's build something together that helps the Local Church do what she does best: bringing Faith, Hope and Love to the world around us.

Between March 28th and April 4th, we will be hosting an online Hackathon, unrestricted by geography and location. We will build technological solutions to the problems local churches across the world are now facing. And you can be a part of it. Sign up to join a virtual team. Or link up with some friends and form a team. Create a legacy. Sign up below to join this international community with one aim - leveraging tech to glorify Jesus in the midst of great need.
